Julia joined Stellar in June 2026 as an Onboarding Coordinator and, after showing an interest in the consulting side of recruitment, has stepped into an Associate Consultant role with our Trades team.

Julia explains:

“Working in onboarding gave me a really good understanding of the candidate journey and how important the experience is from that first interaction right through to starting a role. I’d started becoming more interested in the consulting side of recruitment, so when the opportunity came up to move into the Trades team, I was really keen to give it a go.”

Growing our own talent

Emily and Julia’s journey shows where that opportunity can lead.

Since Emily moved from onboarding into recruitment, she has built her experience across the Trades market and developed into an experienced Consultant.

Now, she’s working alongside Georgia Mackie, Division Manager, to help train Julia.

Having Emily involved gives Julia the benefit of learning from someone who has made the same move herself, while also giving Emily the opportunity to take on more responsibility and contribute to the development of the team.

Georgia says Julia’s existing experience gives her a strong foundation to build from:

“Julia already understands our business, our candidates and how we want people to experience Stellar. You can teach the technical side of recruitment, but having that people focus and understanding why the candidate experience matters gives her a really strong starting point.”

Julia will now continue developing her skills across sourcing, screening, candidate engagement, client relationships and the commercial side of recruitment, supported by Georgia, Emily and the wider Trades team.

Creating careers at Stellar

Last year, 21 people were promoted across our Trans-Tasman business, and this year we’ve already celebrated 8 more internal promotions.

For us, that’s about more than the numbers. We want our people to be able to see what their career at Stellar could look like and have opportunities to learn, take on new challenges and progress when they’re ready.

Emily and Julia are at different stages of that journey. Emily started in onboarding and is now an experienced Consultant helping develop others. Julia is taking that next step now.
