The Role
My client is a leading Civil Contractor with a proven track record delivering large scale infrastructure projects across New Zealand. With a major project underway in Canterbury, we are seeking a Zone Manager to take ownership of a critical section of the ongoing works. 

This is a senior leadership position, responsible for managing construction across multiple work fronts. You’ll lead teams, drive delivery performance, and play a key role in ensuring successful project outcomes. This role is ideally suited to someone stepping up from a Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager position within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Drive planning, coordination, and resource allocation
  • Lead safety, quality, and environmental performance on site
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with contractual obligations, safety and high quality
  • Track progress, productivity, and key milestones
What You’ll Bring
  • Previous experience working within a Tier 1 (or large Tier 2) civil contractor
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline
  • 10 or more years of experience in civil Construction, ideally with exposure to major infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding across civil disciplines (earthworks, roading, drainage, structures)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work fronts and drive programme delivery
  • Highly developed leadership and team management skills
  • Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and project performance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability
  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
