Are you an experienced machinist ready to take the next step into leadership, or an established Team Leader looking for a new challenge ?
  
We are seeking a Machine Shop Team Leader to join a busy and growing engineering manufacturing business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead by example, support day-to-day workshop operations and help drive productivity, safety and quality across the team.
   
About the Role
You'll be responsible for coordinating workflow, supporting production targets, mentoring team members and ensuring high-quality machining outcomes. This role combines technical machining expertise with strong people leadership and operational oversight.
   
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee day-to-day machine shop operations and team performance.
  • Operate CNC and conventional machining equipment while ensuring quality workmanship.
  • Plan and prioritise workflow, resources and production schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance across the workshop.
  • Train, mentor and develop staff while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
   
What We're Looking For
  • Proven machining and manufacturing experience, including CNC and conventional machining operations.
  • Strong capability operating manual lathes, milling machines and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience within an engineering environment.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulics, quality standards, workplace safety and productivity requirements.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and team leadership skills, with welding experience an advantage.
