Introduction
We are seeking suitable applications for the role of Supervisor within the Fire protection division providing Fire Alarm services to a wide variety of projects, repairs, and installations. Initially this role will be a semi tool, semi office-based position with around 1 - 2 days in the office and 3 - 4 days site based. As the company expands the operation and the local staff base increase the supervisor’s role will develop into a full management position becoming less site based.
  
The role
  • To carry out work, being new installations, repairs, fault finding, and testing
  • Ensure all work is undertaken to a high standard, compliant, safe, and efficient operation considering the financial goals for each contract/job.
  • Report regularly on progress, in particular achievement against milestones, potential risks, and the associated risk-mitigating strategies as required
  • Ensuring Health and Safety is carried out as per the company Health and Safety Policy for all staff and sub-contractors.
  • Assist with effective material purchasing based on actual requirements
  • With an inhouse team providing estimating support a key function of your role will be to build strong working relationships and nurture networks in the market.
You will have/be:
  • Capable of being on the tools in the short term and have the capability to develop into a wider supervisor / project management role.
  • You will be experienced in fire protection systems
  • Level 4 NZ Fire Alarm Technician
  • NZ Driver’s License
  • New Zealand Resident or currently holds a New Zealand Work Visa
  • Attention to detail and the ability to read building plans and fire alarm drawings are essential.
  • Although there are no direct reports today, your requirement is to manage staff numbers as projects require and contractor labour
  • With an inhouse team providing estimating support a key function of your role will be to build strong working relationships and nurture networks in the market.
  • Travel to site across Queenstown Cromwell/Wanaka regions
  • Due to the nature of the work, you will be able to work independently and work as part of a team with the ability to make a decision and to be accountable for those decisions.
