An established construction business is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Palmerston North.
The project portfolio offers excellent variety and scale, with opportunities to work across projects ranging from smaller builds valued between $1.5M and $5M through to major anchor projects of up to $50M.
This provides the opportunity to broaden your experience, work across different project types and take ownership of projects at varying levels of complexity.

The role would suit a Senior QS who is confident managing the commercial side of projects and is competent in running a job independently, while still having strong support around them.
You will be part of a close-knit and supportive team, with ongoing guidance from the Regional Manager. You will have the autonomy to manage your projects while having experienced leadership available to support you when needed.
There is also a genuine opportunity to progress beyond Senior QS level into senior leadership for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement and subcontractor packages
- Manage subcontractors and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage subcontractors' agreements
- Cost control and commercial management
- Monthly financial and project reporting
- Manage variations, claims and forecasting
- Work closely with project managers and delivery teams
- Take ownership of the commercial performance of projects
- Ownership of the end of month reporting
- Independently manage projects from a commercial perspective
- Ideally to be NZIQS member.
You will ideally have:
- Strong New Zealand construction experience
- Senior-level Quantity Surveying experience
- Excellent procurement and subcontractor management skills
- Strong commercial and financial management capability
- The ability to independently manage a project
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive and practical approach to project delivery
- The confidence to take ownership while working collaboratively within a close-knit team
