We're working with a well-regarded construction business seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. Whether you're an established Senior QS or a capable Intermediate ready for the next step, you'll have the confidence and capability to hit the ground running and manage projects autonomously.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll oversee the commercial and financial performance of a range of construction projects, from smaller works through to projects exceeding $20M. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, accountability, and the trust to manage their projects, build strong client relationships, and deliver successful commercial outcomes with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities
- Managing project budgets, forecasting, and cost control
- Preparing and submitting progress claims and final accounts
- Managing contract variations and commercial risk
- Procuring and negotiating subcontractor packages
- Reviewing subcontractor and supplier claims
- Producing cashflow forecasts and financial reporting
- Working closely with Project Managers and site teams
- Building strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced team members over time
This role requires someone with a solid grounding in New Zealand commercial construction. Importantly, we're less interested in the number of years you've been in the industry and more interested in your capability. You may have five years' experience or fifteen.
You'll bring
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience in NZ building or construction projects
- Strong understanding of timber-framed and commercial construction methodologies
- NZ Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management Degree, or equivalent qualification
- The ability to manage projects independently with minimal supervision
- Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
