About
Join a well-established Hawke's Bay construction business as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, taking ownership of the commercial performance of projects ranging from $2M to $15M across the commercial construction sector.

Based in Hawkes Bay as a key member of the Commercial Team, you'll be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and pricing through to procurement, project delivery, and final account. Acting as the financial lead on projects, you'll ensure costs are managed effectively, risks are identified early, and projects are delivered profitably.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys influencing outcomes, building strong relationships, and being trusted to make commercial decisions that drive project success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project budgets and financial performance
  • Oversee contracts, variations, and claims
  • Procure and manage subcontractors
  • Monitor costs, risks, and cashflow
  • Support tendering and pricing
  • Build strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Drive commercial outcomes across the project lifecycle
  • Support and mentor the wider commercial team
About You

We're looking for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who can see the bigger picture while maintaining strong attention to detail.

You'll bring:
  • 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience within the NZ construction industry
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, procurement, contracts, and risk management
  • NZ diploma QS minimum or overseas equivalent
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, variations, and reporting
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams
  • Knowledge of NZ construction contracts and industry standards
  • Experience using ERP systems, with Jobpac highly desirable
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to delivering successful project outcomes
