My client is seeking a Senior QS or experienced Intermediate QS to join their growing Wellington business and work across multiple civil projects in a dynamic environment. You will play a key role in driving commercial performance, ensuring financial certainty, and supporting project teams from delivery through to completion.
You’ll work closely with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors while also providing mentorship and leadership within the commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and administer contracts, manage project budgets, and maintain robust cost control
- Prepare and submit progress claims for both contracted works and variations, creating a no‑surprises financial environment
- Track project costs and produce detailed financial reports against budgets
- Lead procurement strategies, negotiate supplier and subcontractor agreements, and manage ongoing administration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks
- Provide regular commercial reporting and forecasting to project stakeholders
- Work closely with project and site teams to support smooth project delivery
- Mentor and guide intermediate and junior Quantity Surveyors, contributing to team development and capability growth
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or similar, or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 5 years experience (Ideally within civil or infrastructure projects)
- Proven ability to manage projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously
- Strong numerical, analytical, and financial reporting skills
- Confident working with subcontractor claims, variations, and commercial negotiations
- Experience with Candy software, particularly post-tender budget management, is highly regarded
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and document management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Competitive remuneration package depending on experience. Starting $115,000 - $170,000
