Procurement Manager

Contract Type:

Full Time

Location:

NZ - Auckland - North Island

Industry:

Building & Construction

Our Client:

Our client is a well-established and growing nationwide organisation, operating within the commercial construction sector. With a strong focus on quality, innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction, the business is investing in its procurement capability to support continued growth.
This newly created position offers an experienced procurement professional the opportunity to take ownership of international sourcing, strengthen established supplier partnerships, and develop new supply channels across global markets.

About the Role:

As Procurement Manager, you will lead procurement activity across a wide range of construction and building products. You will manage and strengthen existing offshore supplier relationships while identifying new manufacturing and trade partnerships that improve commercial performance, product quality, and supply chain resilience.
Working closely with Regional Managers, Project Managers, senior leaders, finance, logistics partners, and international suppliers, you will oversee the complete procurement process, from sourcing and negotiation through to product testing, compliance, freight coordination, and delivery into New Zealand.
This is an autonomous position requiring strong commercial judgement, cultural awareness, and the confidence to establish trusted relationships across diverse international markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, establish, and strengthen international supplier and manufacturing relationships
  • Identify and evaluate new offshore suppliers, products, and global sourcing opportunities
  • Lead sourcing, tendering, pricing reviews, contract negotiations, and commercial agreements
  • Coordinate product testing, compliance documentation, quality standards, and supplier warranties
  • Oversee international freight, shipping schedules, customs processes, and delivery into NZ
  • Partner with Regional and Project Managers to forecast demand, manage supply risks, and maintain product availability
Skills and Experience:
  • At least five years of procurement experience, ideally within building products, construction supply, manufacturing, or merchant environments
  • Proven experience managing offshore suppliers and developing international sourcing relationships
  • Strong commercial negotiation, strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier evaluation capability
  • Practical knowledge of international logistics, freight, customs, product testing, and supply chain risk
  • Confident communication, analytical, reporting, relationship management, and cross cultural collaboration skills
  • A current passport and willingness to travel internationally, with additional language capability advantageous but not essential
This is a high impact position for a self motivated procurement professional who enjoys working independently, developing trusted supplier relationships, and delivering measurable commercial value. You will have the opportunity to influence procurement strategy while contributing directly to the growth and resilience of a progressive construction organisation.

How to Apply:

If you thrive on developing global supplier relationships and identifying new commercial opportunities, we would welcome your application.
Apply online. Applications will be acknowledged within five working days. For a confidential conversation, please contact Fiona Sanderson on 03 222 2304 or email fiona.s@stellarrecruitment.co.nz.
