About the role
Looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, build lasting client relationships and develop your expertise across private client law?

We're working with an established Auckland law firm looking to appoint an experienced Solicitor to join its Private Client team. This is a varied role with a strong focus on Trusts, Wills and Estates, alongside broader private client and property work.

You'll advise individuals, families and business owners on asset protection, succession planning and the establishment and ongoing management of trusts.
You'll manage your own matters from start to finish, work directly with clients and have the opportunity to become a trusted adviser across a range of personal and financial matters.

There will also be exposure to conveyancing and general commercial work, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a diverse practice.

The firm is open to full-time or potentially part-time arrangements for the right person, offering flexibility alongside genuine professional responsibility.

Benefits
  • Flexible working, including potential part-time hours
  • Varied private client and trust work
  • Autonomy and ownership of your own files
  • Supportive team with experienced practitioners
  • Ongoing professional development and mentoring
Duties
  • Manage trust establishment and administration matters
  • Advise clients on asset protection and succession planning
  • Draft wills, memoranda of wishes and estate documents
  • Review trust deeds and related documentation
  • Manage estate administration and probate matters
  • Handle property transactions and conveyancing work
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Identify opportunities to develop and grow your practice
Skills & experience
To be considered for this role, you will ideally be a NZ admitted solicitor with around 4–5 years' PQE across private client and property law.  You'll have a sound understanding of the Trusts Act 2019 and be comfortable reviewing trust deeds, advising on trust structures and managing more complex trust-related matters.

Experience in wills, estates, succession planning and conveyancing will be highly regarded. A good understanding of financial statements and the ability to assess clients' wider financial and personal circumstances will also be advantageous.

You'll bring strong drafting and advisory skills, sound judgement and a practical approach to problem-solving. Just as importantly, you'll enjoy building relationships, be confident dealing directly with clients and have an interest in developing your own client base.

Culture
People enjoy working here because the environment is approachable, collaborative and genuinely supportive. You'll work alongside experienced lawyers who are accessible and invested in your development, with an emphasis on sharing knowledge, encouraging new ideas and maintaining a healthy balance between work and life.
