This is a senior, business-critical role responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of clinical services through strong practitioner leadership, operational governance, and well-embedded administrative systems.
Ideal candidates will bring experience from an Allied Health, GP Practice Groups, healthcare, veterinary, or agricultural services environment, where operational discipline, stakeholder management, and people leadership are essential.
The role:
Reporting to the South Island General Manager, the Practice Manager is accountable for the overall performance, sustainability, and day-to-day operations of their clinics. You will provide leadership to practitioners and support staff while ensuring systems, processes, and resources enable high-quality, compliant clinical service delivery.
This role requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on operational management in a structured, patient- and practitioner-focused environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for a multidisciplinary team of practitioners.
- Foster a professional, high-performing, and clinically aligned team culture
- Manage administrative and operational systems that support efficient clinical service delivery
- Oversee workforce planning, rostering, and resource utilization.
- Monitor operational performance, financial indicators, and agreed KPIs
- Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and clinical governance standards
- Act as a key escalation point for people, operational, and client matters
- Partner with internal support functions to implement service improvements and growth initiatives
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, privacy, and regulatory obligations
You are an experienced operational leader with a structured, analytical approach and strong people leadership capability. You understand how to support practitioners while maintaining operational control and service excellence.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams within Allied Health, healthcare, veterinary, agricultural, or similarly regulated environments
- Strong understanding of operational management, systems, and process improvement
- Proven capability in people leadership, performance management, and staff development
- Confidence working with financial data, KPIs, and operational reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
