Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you will provide visible leadership across mining activities, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting safe, effective production. This opportunity suits a hands-on leader who builds trust with crews, makes sound decisions and takes ownership of safety standards.
The role
- Conduct statutory inspections, identify hazards and ensure effective controls are in place across mining activities.
- Work closely with production supervisors and crews to maintain safe operating practices and address emerging risks.
- Contribute to incident investigations, corrective actions and improvements to the site’s Safety and Health Management System.
- Lead by example through pre-starts, coaching and clear communication of expectations.
- Hold a Queensland-recognised Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency for Surface Coal Mines and a current practising certificate.
- Bring proven OCE experience within an open-cut coal mining environment.
- Have a strong understanding of Queensland coal mining safety legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Demonstrate practical leadership, sound judgement and the confidence to address unsafe behaviours and conditions.
