Network Waitaki, in partnership with Stellar Recruitment, is seeking a Networks Engineer to join their Future Networks and Assets team based in Oamaru.
This role plays a key part in shaping the long‑term performance, resilience, and development of Network Waitaki’s electricity network, supporting over 13,000 customers across North Otago and parts of South Canterbury.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Future Networks and Assets, you’ll contribute to long‑term network planning, future energy scenarios, and resilience initiatives. Your work will support asset management planning, investment decisions, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing network impacts of large load and distributed generation connections
- Modelling future energy scenarios, demand, and technology uptake
- Contributing to resilience, security, and capacity studies
- Developing business cases and project scopes
- Supporting continuous improvement through digital tools and new technologies
- Embedding safety‑in‑design and supporting a strong health and safety culture
About you
You’ll ideally have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar), preferably with a power systems focus
- Experience in electricity distribution networks, asset management, or strategic engineering
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgement
- The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
