Rex Minerals is an Australian mining company dedicated to the development of its flagship A$1.0B Copper-Gold Hillside Project located on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. The project will be a significant contributor to the South Australian economy and will provide employment opportunities for locals and for those looking to move to the Yorke Peninsula.
Hillside is in a fantastic location 150km from Adelaide and is one of the largest undeveloped copper / gold projects in Australia. Stage 1 of the project is fully approved and early-stage site access work has commenced. Further site work and awarding of contracts and building the team to execute the project will continue over 2026 with the Financial Investment Decision (FID) process due to conclude shortly.
The project will be operated under a contract mining model with oversight from an experienced owners’ team in Rex Minerals and the processing plant and non-processing infrastructure teams will be owner employed.
About the role:
The Manager Operational Readiness will lead and coordinate the operational readiness and transition of the project from construction and commissioning into safe, stable, and efficient operations across all operational areas of the business. This role is responsible for ensuring that the project’s people, systems, processes, infrastructure, equipment, and operational functions are fully prepared to support sustainable production and long-term operational performance.
The role will work across mining, processing, maintenance, infrastructure, logistics, HSE, supply chain, technology, and support services to ensure operational readiness activities are effectively planned, integrated, and executed in alignment with project milestones and business objectives. The position plays a critical role in delivering a safe and successful ramp-up to full production while embedding operational excellence and continuous improvement practices.
The role is Adelaide based initially with travel to site required. The requirement to be on site is expected to increase towards the end of the construction phase of the project.
Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in senior operational, project, commissioning, or operational readiness roles within mining or large-scale resource projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the development, commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up of large mining or mineral processing operations.
- Experience leading operational readiness programs across multiple operational disciplines including mining, processing, maintenance, infrastructure, logistics, and support services.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in complex project and operational environments.
- Experience in large copper or copper-gold mining operations is highly desirable
- Permanent position at a significant greenfield mining project, where you will play a key role as the operation gets off the ground.
