This is a key leadership role responsible for the delivery of Health, Safety & Environmental performance across a high-risk organisation.
Reporting at a senior level, you’ll lead a team of HSE professionals while partnering closely with operational leaders to embed practical, risk-based safety practices on-site and across projects.
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, strengthening systems, and ensuring compliance, while building a positive, proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities;
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HSE Advisors
- Provide expert guidance to site and project teams across high-risk environments
- Drive implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems, policies, and procedures
- Oversee risk management including hazard identification, critical risk controls, and site safety plans
- Lead incident investigations (including ICAM) and drive organisational learnings
- Manage assurance activities such as audits, inspections, and compliance monitoring
- Support environmental management and sustainable practices across operations
- Champion worker engagement and contribute to a strong safety-first culture
What do you need?
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior HSE role within construction, civil, or similar high-risk industries
- Proven experience leading and influencing HSE teams and operational stakeholders
- Strong understanding of NZ HSE legislation and risk management frameworks
- ICAM investigation experience and relevant health & safety qualification (Level 6 or equivalent)
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery
- Confident communicator with the ability to build trust across all levels
