About the job opportunity

An established and growing civil construction business is seeking a Trade Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join their close-knit workshop team in Queenstown. Working across both the workshop and field environments, you'll play a key role in maintaining a diverse fleet including heavy trucks, trailers, earthmoving equipment, agricultural machinery, light vehicles and ancillary plant.

This is a hands-on position offering plenty of variety, autonomy and problem-solving. You'll suit this role if you're capable of thinking on your feet, diagnosing issues independently and keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.
  

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct servicing, maintenance and repairs across a large and varied fleet
  • Diagnose faults across diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Complete preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Carry out field service work at project and site locations
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Ensure equipment meets operational, safety and compliance requirements
  • Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime

About you
  • Trade qualified Diesel Mechanic
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
  • Experience working on heavy equipment, transport fleets or earthmoving machinery
  • Able to work independently and solve problems in the field
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Current Class 1 and Class 2 licence required
  • WTR endorsement advantageous
  • Experience in civil construction or agricultural equipment highly regarded
