Our client is delivering a significant solar farm development in the Taupō region and is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join the site team on a permanent basis.

This is a junior to intermediate-level position focused on providing practical, hands-on health and safety support throughout the construction phase. You will work closely with an experienced Senior Health & Safety professional, project leadership and site teams to maintain safe working practices and support a positive safety culture.

The role is based in Taupō. Candidates may relocate to the region or work an 11/3 roster on a FIFO or DIDO basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide practical, site-based health and safety advice and support
  • Conduct site inspections, observations and safety conversations
  • Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments and control measures
  • Support site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
  • Help maintain health and safety documentation, registers and reporting
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action processes
  • Engage with employees, subcontractors and project leaders at all levels
  • Work alongside the Senior Health & Safety professional to promote a strong safety culture
  • Support compliance with project procedures and relevant health and safety requirements
What you will bring:

You will have a solid foundation in health and safety and some experience working in a site-based construction or industrial environment. You will be comfortable engaging directly with the workforce and providing practical guidance in an active project setting.

To be successful, you will ideally bring:
  • Junior to intermediate-level health and safety experience
  • Proven site-based experience in construction or a similar industrial environment
  • A practical and visible approach to health and safety
  • The confidence to influence safe behaviours and address issues constructively
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to engage effectively with workers, subcontractors and project leadership
  • Sound organisational, documentation and reporting skills
  • A construction background, although other substantial site-based experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certificate or Diploma in Health and Safety, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Membership with NZISM or another relevant professional body
