Position Description
As a Residential Formworker, you will be responsible for setting the footprint of the home. You will prepare the ground, erect edge boards, and install the structural frameworks required for residential footings, raft slabs, and waffle pod systems. Accuracy is everything in this role, as your work directly dictates the framing accuracy for the carpenters following you.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up timber or steel edge formwork for residential slabs, including raft slabs, waffle pod systems, and strip footings.
- Read residential engineering plans to set out profiles, string lines, and datum points to ensure exact slab dimensions and heights.
- Lay down plastic moisture barriers, position waffle pods, and assist with placing spacer mesh and reinforcing steel (rebar) as per QLD building codes.
- Securely stake and brace all formwork to withstand the pressure of concrete pours, preventing blowouts.
- Safely strip and clean edge boards post-pour, preparing materials for the next residential site.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience specialising in residential formwork or housing slabs.
- Trade qualification in Carpentry/Formwork is highly regarded but not essential if backed by strong residential experience.
- Current Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Proficiency using lasers, levels, and standard hand/power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret residential engineering drawings and architectural layouts.
