The Opportunity

Our client is a leading Australian steel manufacturer supplying building products to commercial and residential projects nationwide. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator / Loader to join their Townsville team.

This hands-on role involves loading and unloading steel products including roofing, walling, beams, and other oversized materials within a fast-paced yard environment. Ideal for a confident forklift operator experienced handling long-length or non-standard loads safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts to safely move and load steel building products and oversized materials
  • Load and unload trucks with non-standard freight including roofing, walling, steel, piping, and long-length products
  • Safely secure and strap loads for transport
  • Work closely with dispatch and production teams to ensure timely deliveries
  • Perform general yard duties and maintain a clean, organised workspace
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and load restraint requirements
  • Provide occasional customer interaction and support on-site
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current LF Forklift Licence (essential)
  • Proven experience operating forklifts with oversized, awkward, or non-standard loads
  • Experience handling steel, timber, piping, construction materials, or similar products
  • Confidence working in manufacturing, transport, warehouse, or yard environments
  • Strong understanding of load restraint and safe material handling practices
  • Reliable work ethic with a safety-first mindset
  • Willingness to assist with both forklift and ground-based duties
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
