A well-established Hawke's Bay business is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to provide parental leave cover within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, partnering with senior leaders, and ensuring the smooth running of a finance function. You'll be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, managing cashflow and compliance obligations, and supporting business performance through sound financial advice and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day financial management and accounting operations
- Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Manage cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and GST requirements
- Monitor financial performance and provide commercial insights to support decision-making
- Coordinate annual financial statements, tax returns, and compliance activities
- Liaise with banks, external accountants, and other key stakeholders
- Provide leadership and support to a small finance team
- 6-8 Month Fixed-term Contract

Experience
- CA qualified (or working towards) preferred
- 7+ years' experience within accounting or finance roles
- Strong understanding of New Zealand tax, GST, and statutory compliance requirement
- Experience with Xero and modern accounting systems
- Previous experience leading a finance function or senior finance team in NZ
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and cashflow management skills
- Experience within property, construction, development, or project-based industries advantageous
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
