The Role
Reporting to the Project Controls Lead, the successful Cost Controller will play a key role in tracking, reporting and forecasting project costs across active construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, finance, procurement and construction teams to ensure costs are accurate, reporting is timely, and project leaders have the information they need to make strong commercial decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing project budgets, cost tracking, forecasts and cashflow visibility
- Preparing EOM cost reports, cost trackers, accruals and variance analysis
- Reconciling costs across DFRs, invoices, payroll inputs and financial systems
- Supporting client payment claims, change management and cost-related project decisions
- Maintaining accurate cost data and identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes
- Supporting and guiding a Junior Cost Controller within the team
- 3-5 years’ experience in cost control, project controls or project financial accounting management (*Open to applications and discussions from more senior candidates)
- Background in accounting or finance OR construction, civil infrastructure or a project-based environment
- Strong Excel, analytical and numerical skills
- Confident working with budgets, forecasts, accruals, claims and cost reports
- High attention to detail and clear communication skills
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a fast-moving team environment with evolving systems where you can influence change quickly
- Circa $140-160K Base Salary + Super
