Underground Mobile Maintenance Superintendent
8/6 Roster Owner‑Operator Gold Miner Permanent Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Underground Mobile Maintenance Superintendent to lead a high‑performing team at an owner‑operated gold operation. This is a key leadership role on an 8/6 roster, working in a hub‑and‑spoke maintenance environment with a central workshop supporting multiple satellite workshops across site. You’ll work back‑to‑back with another superintendent and report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

The Role

  • Lead and develop a trades workforce responsible for the safe and reliable performance of an extensive Sandvik underground fleet, supported by Normet, CAT and Volvo equipment.
  • Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, and proactive reporting of lead and lag indicators.
  • Champion asset health, ensuring machine reliability through structured maintenance practices, sound planning, and disciplined execution.
  • Oversee maintenance activities across the main workshop and satellite facilities, ensuring consistent standards and communication across all areas.
  • Manage operational costs with a solid understanding of Life Cycle Costing and Total Operating Cost, maintaining alignment with monthly budgets.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, embedding a growth mindset across the team.
  • Apply analytical thinking to equipment performance, including failure mode analysis, 5 Whys, and basic RCA methodologies.
  • Utilise CMMS (Pronto) to ensure accurate work management, reporting, and compliance.

About You
  • A proven leader with the ability to lift capability across the team through coaching, mentoring, and clear communication.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with a track record of building reporting cultures and improving safety behaviours.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to interpret cost drivers and influence maintenance decisions through sound business reasoning.
  • Naturally curious, improvement‑focused, and comfortable challenging the status quo to deliver better outcomes.
  • Technically competent in underground mobile equipment maintenance, with a solid understanding of machine health and failure analysis.
  • Experienced with CMMS systems, ideally Pronto, and confident using data to drive decisions.
