About the Role:

We are looking for a Technical Manager to join our dynamic team and play a key role in delivering and enhancing our ITS projects across Auckland.
As Technical Manager , you will play a key role in technically supporting the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex ITS projects across Auckland. With your wealth of experience, you will guide, advise, and train our technical teams and project managers to maintain high-quality standards and enhance project delivery. Reporting to the ITS General Manager , you’ll lead the technical team in overseeing next-gen traffic management systems , smart infrastructure, and transport solutions that will shape the future of our transport networks.

Your role will include:

• Providing strategic leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving across the team.
• Proactively driving innovation and identifying new technologies to improve transport efficiency and safety.
• Managing resource allocation and collaboration to exceed client expectations and contribute to company success.

• Technical Leadership: Lead and manage a talented team of engineers, technicians, and IT professionals to deliver innovative ITS solutions across a variety of projects.
• Project Oversight: Take ownership of technical project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
• System Integration: Oversee the integration of advanced technologies such as sensors, data analytics, smart traffic signals , and more into existing infrastructure.
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and key stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation and smooth operation.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices in all technical aspects of our systems.
• Innovation: Continuously monitor emerging trends in ITS and bring fresh, forward-thinking solutions to the table to improve transport efficiency and safety in Auckland.
• Reporting: Provide regular technical progress reports to senior leadership, including the ITS General Manager, and ensure clear communication across all project phases.

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of ITS systems, smart infrastructure, or related technologies (e.g., traffic management systems, sensors, cameras, etc.).
• Project Management Skills: Experience in leading technical teams and managing large-scale projects from inception to delivery.
• Problem-Solving Ability: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a technical team while working closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and report progress effectively.
• Qualifications: A relevant degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field. Additional certifications in project management or ITS-related technologies are a bonus.
• Proven experience: Management in a traffic public space environment.
