We are seeking a highly capable Senior Technical / Bid Writer to lead the development of complex, high-value proposals and strategic documentation for a national renewable energy leader.

This role combines expert writing skills with a strong understanding of project estimation, ensuring our submissions are not only compelling but also commercially sound and competitive.

You will work closely with subject matter experts, estimators, and senior stakeholders to craft winning bids that reflect our technical capabilities and value proposition.

About The Role

  • Lead the end-to-end bid writing and submission process for large-scale tenders and proposals
  • Proven experience in development of Gate papers to Executive / Senior Leadership
  • Translate technical and commercial concepts into clear, persuasive content tailored to client needs
  • Collaborate with estimators and project teams to ensure accuracy and alignment of costings and scope
  • Review and refine estimation inputs to ensure consistency and clarity in bid documentation
  • Maintain a library of reusable content, case studies, and pricing narratives
  • Support strategic initiatives including capability statements, white papers, and presentations

About You

  • +5 years’ experience in technical writing and bid development for complex projects.
  • Proven experience in the successful bid delivery.
  • Outstanding interpretation of project estimation principles and cost modelling.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with NZ government procurement frameworks e.g (GETS, AT,) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration.
  • Key Estimation skills a must
  • Ability to interpret and integrate cost breakdowns, schedules, and scope into bid narratives.
  • Experience working with estimators or quantity surveyors to validate pricing strategies.
  • Understanding of direct and indirect cost components, risk allowances, and contingency planning.
  • Familiarity / experience with tools such as estimation platforms.
  • Commercial awareness to align pricing with client expectations and market conditions.
