Our Client is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join their Steel Business Unit.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for fabricating structural steel components in accordance with detailed workshop drawings and production requirements.
This hands-on role involves MIG and Arc welding, gas cutting, drilling, marking out, and assembling structural components to precise specifications.
You will play a key role in ensuring quality standards are met while maintaining a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Production
- Interpret detailed workshop drawings and specifications
- Prepare surfaces for welding
- Drill, mark out, gas cut, and tack weld components
- Accurately set out and position structural components
- Monitor completed components to ensure compliance with drawings
- Maintain consistent production output aligned with Labour hour targets
- Accurately record time spent on contracts via job sheets and time clock systems
- Ensure all finished goods meet required standards
- Follow quality control systems to prevent non-conforming products
- Monitor and reduce re-work
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes
- Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and maintained daily
Essential:
- Proven experience in structural fabrication
- Relevant welding qualifications (AS/NZS 2980:2007)
- Strong knowledge of modern steel fabrication techniques
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation in a factory environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Previous experience in the structural steel industry
- Qualification in general engineering or equivalent
