Senior Surveyor – Civil Construction | Auckland

to lead and deliver surveying activities across a range of high-profile civil infrastructure projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team that values precision, innovation, and collaboration.
About the Role
As Senior Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for managing all on-site surveying operations including set-out, earthworks design, as-built documentation, and survey reporting. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy and compliance across projects, while mentoring junior surveyors and liaising with clients, consultants, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform earthwork cut/fill and design calculations, and produce detailed survey drawings.
- Deliver topographical surveys, cross-sections, and elevation maps.
- Conduct field surveys and update construction drawings.
- Operate and maintain GPS, total stations, and other survey equipment.
- Use Civil CAD, Magnet, and Trimble Business Center for data processing and plan preparation.
- Set out drainage, roads, boundaries, and structures to design specifications.
- Prepare as-built plans and maintain accurate survey records.
- Provide data for monthly progress claims and cost estimates.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to clarify survey requirements.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
- 5+ years’ experience in civil construction/earthworks, with proven leadership in a senior surveying role.
- Proficient in Civil CAD, Magnet, and Trimble Business Center.
- Strong technical skills in GPS, total stations, and modern survey technologies.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and manage multiple project requirements.
- Location: Auckland
- Salary: NZ$100,000 – NZ$140,000 per year (based on experience)
