Purpose of the role
   
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include budget and cost control, forecasting, development of subcontractor and supplier agreements, claims management, commercial risk management and reporting.  These roles will see you being involved at the very early stages in some of Queenstown’s major landmark projects.
  
The role
   
Carrying out full contract servicing of projects, including monitoring and reporting on their financial positions. Your management of project costs will achieve agreed or better levels of margin and profit by controlling expenditure and optimising revenue recovery, while meeting required standards for time, quality, and service.

  • Ensure that design to cost exercises are completed to a high standard and are collated through to the overall project summary
  • Advise of any risks that originate from the design to cost process to the Risk Manager.
  • Where directed and when the requirement arises - manage the process of Modifications and assist the Project Managers in finalising the relevant submissions within the timeframes under the Contract.
  • Actively work with Commercial financial reporting lead, to finalise Project General Budgets for
  • distribution and sign off.
  • Assist in preparing final budgets for issue to relevant section Project Managers.
  • Manage upwards where required, and promptly advise Commercial and Risk leaders of potential cost overruns based on the findings of the design to cost exercise.
You will have / be
  • Tertiary (Bachelor) degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Business, Law or associated disciplines.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant commercial construction experience
  • Proven experience in a large construction/multi project environment
  • Proven ability to interpret relevant legislation/code and its application on the project to prevent potential business exposure
  • Extensive Knowledge of project management structure, plans and implications for contract and commercial accountabilities
  • Extensive Knowledge of the tender (methodology, costings and constraints), contractual agreement, claim and dispute management
  • The ability and experience to create strong links with our project delivery teams
