Overview
We are working with a national construction firm who are seeking a senior project manager in Christchurch. The purpose of the role is to manage the construction of various projects within the required time frame and within the budgeted costs, while ensuring the required technical standard and quality is achieved.
Key Result Areas:
- Responsible for the general management of the construction project, delivering the construction in accordance with the design and the terms and conditions of the tendered contracts, including any value engineering.
- Liaising with the clients and consultants.
- Manage and resolve construction issues as they arise, facilitating necessary solution.
- Managing contractors, consultants and site managers to ensure delivery of construction to the required time frame, budget and technical and quality standards.
- Ensure on time delivery of the construction, to the specified standards and programme requirements, including management of critical path programme and any negotiations of extensions of time.
- Display high levels of leadership to ensure construction is achieved by ensuring that the construction team are well directed and motivated.
- Ensure contract budgets are being maintained and commercial management of the project is delivered as tender strategy.
- Ensure quality assurance is being carried out to a high standard
- Carry out safe work practices by observing and giving feedback and recognition to direct reports, peers and other staff, contractors and visitors on safe and unsafe behaviours.
- Accurately reports and records all environmental incidents, or breaches in a timely manner using company procedures and systems.
- Mentor the project and site management team and provide guidance and solutions to bring any issues raised to an acceptable solution to the company, client, consultants and sub-contractors.
- Review staff performance with the General Manager and highlight training requirements for individual staff members.
- Proactively develop methodologies in such a way to develop the team’s knowledge and experience.
- Act as Contracts Manager when assigned to projects by the General Manager.
- Be an active member of the tendering team, producing tender programmes and methodologies when required.
- Business development is every senior manager’s responsibility. You are expected to offer strategies and work alongside the General Manager in securing forward work.
- Undertake other duties and projects from time to time as generally expected of a Senior Project Manager and/or requested by the General Manager.
A base salary reflective of this senior role plus ute, phone, laptop, fuel card etc.
