My client is looking for a driven Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer to join and deliver a major infrastructure project in Canterbury. In your role, you will work on a wide variety, including road upgrades, stormwater infrastructure and bridge structures.
You’ll support project delivery from planning through to completion, working with contractors, clients, and technical teams to ensure safe, high‑quality outcomes.
Some key responsibilities:
- Coordinate contractors and site teams to deliver safe, compliant, on‑time work
- Provide technical support for design development and resolve on‑site engineering issues
- Monitor financial performance, prepare forecasts, and manage variations and claims
- Ensure HSE compliance through site inspections, toolbox talks, and proactive safety leadership
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, meeting minutes, and client communications
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement
- Assist with tendering, estimating, and procurement activities
- Monitor materials, plant, and resources to maintain efficient delivery
- Support risk reviews, environmental compliance, and consent conditions
- Engineering Qualification with experience in Civil Construction
- 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred but not essential)
- Strong understanding and ability with project documentation, reporting processes and digital tools
- Practical understanding of construction methods, specifications, NZ standards and consenting processes
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- A solid understanding of quality, safety, and environmental standards
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software
