About the opportunity:

Stellar Recruitment, in partnership with Enaex Australia, is looking for an experienced Senior MPU Operators / Relief Supervisors (known internally as ‘Leading Hand’ to join their team at the Hope Downs mine site on an 8/6 roster.

Enaex has recently secured a new long-term contract to provide down the hole blasting services to Rio Tinto. A new team is currently being recruited with deployment to the project to begin in the next couple of months.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Relief Site Supervisor duties: you will assume full supervisory responsibilities, maintaining operational continuity, team coordination, and adherence to site standards when working on nights
  • Operating MPUs Safely and Efficiently : Safely operate Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives directly into blast holes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures
  • Conducting Pre-Start Checks : Perform thorough pre-start inspections and routine maintenance on MPU vehicles and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Quality Control and Documentation : Accurately mix and deliver explosives, maintaining precise records of operations and reporting any irregularities to supervisors.
  • Collaborating with Blasting Teams : Work closely with shotfirers and other team members to load blast holes with precision, adhering strictly to safety and design standards.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience operating MPUs/MMUs or similar equipment in an open-cut mining environment
  • Experience in stock management at reload
  • A solid commitment to safety and the zero-harm culture
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Interest in upskilling with a willingness to learn and grow within the industry
Essential Competencies:
  • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Heavy Rigid motor vehicle licence (HR)
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card Card (or interstate equivalent)
  • Ability to pass a medical and drug & alcohol screen
Desirable Competencies
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment – with accompanying shift allowance (highly regarded)
  • Forklift Operator's Licence
  • WHS Statutory Supervisor Qualifications
