Mount Pleasant Operation is currently undergoing major infrastructure upgrades, with substantial capital commitments in place. The operation is supported by leading contractors who play a critical role in maintaining performance and efficiency. About the Role:

Reporting to the Superintendent – Long-Term Planning, this role will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and life-of-mine plans for on-site mining operations.  This position is responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining long-term mine plans that align with business objectives, technical standards, and safety requirements.

The position can be Newcastle based with regular travel to site required, OR 100% site based at Mt Pleasant.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining life-of-mine (LOM) , long-term, and strategic mine plans.
  • Optimising mine design and sequencing to achieve the best strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Optimise mine layouts, sequences, and equipment strategies.
  • Ensure plans align with geotechnical, geological, environmental, and operational constraints.
  • Provide technical input to feasibility studies, budgets, and business planning processes.
  • Collaborate with site and corporate stakeholders to support effective execution of the mine plan.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 8 years’ open cut mining experience.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Extensive experience in mine planning.
  • Experienced with the planning of excavator and truck operations.
  • Demonstrated capability in mining studies and costing.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and persuasively to range of audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning and ability.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
