THE ROLE

We’re seeking an experienced Sales Manager to help drive the continued growth of our client’s Auckland operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will focus on expanding both the Air and Ocean freight divisions across New Zealand. While the position initially has no direct reports, there is unlimited potential to build and lead a high-performing team as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the Air and Ocean freight divisions across New Zealand, with a strong focus on the Auckland market.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including untapped markets and potential partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to align sales initiatives with overall business goals and market trends.
  • While initially an individual contributor role, this position offers the opportunity to build and lead a high-performing sales team as the business scales.
  • Stay informed on industry developments, competitor activity, and customer needs to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work closely with operations, customer service, and finance teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
ABOUT YOU
  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the international freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation industry.
  • Strong network within the New Zealand freight forwarding and logistics industry.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to drive growth and innovation in new markets.
  • Demonstrated success in acquiring and managing large clients or strategic partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of business development efforts in a relatively new market.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of expanding a business into a new region.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing business budgets.
