Our client is seeking a Sales & Business Development Manager to drive growth across wholesale timber and remanufactured timber products. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this is a balanced role combining business development and account management: you’ll be opening new doors while nurturing existing relationships to ensure preferred supplier status.
You’ll spend most of your time in the field; meeting customers face-to-face, uncovering opportunities, and promoting the product range.
The role sits with a progressive, family-owned timber processing business based in Hawke’s Bay. Locally operated and well-established, they are recognised for quality, reliability, and innovation in timber and remanufactured timber products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospecting and securing new customers across timber, packaging, and related sectors
- Developing strategic account plans and converting leads into long-term partnerships
- Maintaining and growing relationships with existing customers through regular site visits
- Implementing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans to increase revenue and market share
- Tracking performance against budgets and KPIs
- Providing timely trip notes and insights to strengthen team knowledge
- Supporting customer events and promotions to enhance engagement
- Sharing market insights and product knowledge to upskill colleagues and strengthen the sales team

About You:
We’re looking for someone conscientious, self-motivated, and innovative, an individual with excellent relationship-building skills and a strong appetite for achieving sales targets while actively seeking out new opportunities. Experience in the timber or packaging industries is an advantage, though not essential.
This role involves significant domestic travel, so flexibility and adaptability are essential to meet business needs.
- Proven ability to balance business development and account management
- 3+ years’ B2B sales account management experience
- Strong background in timber, packaging, construction, or manufacturing (preferred)
- Track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Confident in introducing yourself to new business prospects and building rapport in B2B environments
- Conscientious, self-motivated, and innovative with excellent relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with CRM and sales reporting systems
- Flexible to accommodate a high level of domestic travel
