Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
The Eva Copper Mine is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony marking a major milestone in the company’s copper growth strategy and its long-term commitment to Northwest Queensland. The mine will have a minimum life of 15 years and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. Front-end engineering design is complete, and mine construction is expected to take up to 30 months with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.
About the role:
This is a Brisbane based role with site travel required in line with project demands. You will lead quality assurance (mainly) across tailings projects . You will work closely with contractors, suppliers, project teams and auditors to ensure delivery meets Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and client expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining project-specific Quality Management Plans in line with Australian Standards and guidelines.
- Establishing and managing quality assurance systems across the project.
- Leading QA activities in conjunction with contractors’ quality control teams.
- Coordinating third-party audits and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitoring and reporting quality performance indicators.
- Engaging with suppliers and customers to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Supporting quality-related training and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will be Brisbane based at our office in Milton, working 5:2, Monday to Friday with site travel required in line with project demands.
Please note: this is a maximum term role aligned with the project completion and close out, anticipated to be 31 May 2028.
Experience Required:
- Civil Engineering qualification with RPEQ and CPEng.
- Project management experience with QA/QC on large-scale projects, ideally Tailings Storage Facilities.
- Strong people and communication skills, including writing and presenting.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving ability and initiative.
- Ability to build relationships across teams and integrate efforts effectively.
