We are currently looking for a Quality and Compliance Lead to join our team based in Hornby. The main purpose of the role is to work alongside the Production Manager to ensure the site quality assurance and quality control at least meets (if not exceeds) specification and customer expectation. You will be continuously implementing the Quality Management System to ensure the site maintains appropriate quality certifications (e.g. ISO9001, AS/NZS 4058). You will be working with all teams on site to drive continuous improvement and will be educating staff in Quality Assurance. Please note this role will be split between office work and physically being out in the yard and production areas – you must be open to a fairly hands-on role in a heavy manufacturing environment. Your duties will include:
- Implementing and promoting Quality Assurance programmes to improve quality, reduce cost and minimise waste
- Complete regular audits (internally and externally)
- Ensure all products meet relevant NZ standard through each stage of the manufacturing process
- Support the production team in the accurate completion of production inspection
- Educate team members on QA processes and procedures and expectations levels
- Record inspection and test data
- Develop and drive continuous improvement processes across the site
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed and investigate any incidents (this is a shared responsibility between all staff members)
- Training staff (new staff members and ongoing training for existing team members)
Skills & Experience
Due to the nature of the role, to be successful in this role you will need:
- Minimum three years experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Control role within a manufacturing environment
- Functional knowledge of ISO9001 and product performance standards (NZS3101, NZS3104, NZS3109 and ASNZS4058 are advantageous)
- Hands-on manufacturing experience with the ability to comprehend and apply business improvement processes including knowledge of Lean processes
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques to maximise the effective manufacture of goods
- Must have a practical understanding of NZ Standards and legislation relevant to the role
- Effective communication skills on all levels and ability to be a decision-maker
- Strong IT skills – you will be working on computers daily
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures
- Self-motivated and proactive
- To be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test
- A great attitude and willingness to learn

With multiple sites across New Zealand, we have robust systems and processes; and a true focus on Health & Safety. We are based in Hornby, Christchurch. The Christchurch site is made up of two separate operations – Precast and spun pipe.
