We are looking for a Production Team Leader for our factory based in Hornby. This role comes with a variety of responsibilities including production planning, quality and compliance, health and safety and plant maintenance. The Production Team Leader will work closely with the production tam on the floor as well as the Supervisor and the Manager and will have a team of around 10 direct reports. Please note this is still a hands-on role and is predominantly factory-based with some office support work. Your duties will include:
- Leading the shift to achieve production targets and goals
- Ensuring adequate resources are available for effective execution of the production plan
- Inventory control
- Completing reporting
- Actively working with the Quality and Compliance team to ensure the quality of the product is up to our usual high standards
- Ensuring that the team are following all SOP’s
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed and investigate any incidents
- Conducting and recording regular safety toolbox talks
- Ensuring a wide range of lean manufacturing approaches are implemented
- Completing one on ones with all team members 6 monthly including development plans and reviewing goals
- Training staff (new staff members and ongoing training for existing team members)
Skills & Experience
Due to the nature of the role, to be successful in this role you will need:
- A strong background in a manufacturing or production workplace as a Team Leader
- Experience working with concrete will be an advantage
- Effective communication skills and ability to be a decision-maker
- Good leadership and people management skills
- Strong IT skills – you will be working on computers daily
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures
- Understanding of accounting principles and employment legislation
- Self-motivated and proactive
- To be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test
- A great attitude and willingness to learn

With multiple sites across New Zealand, we have robust systems and processes; and a true focus on Health & Safety. We are based in Hornby, Christchurch. The Christchurch site is made up of two separate operations and you will work in the Precast division.
