About the Role

We are seeking a Production Planner to join our Christchurch manufacturing team based at our Hornby site. This is a full‑time position reporting to the Master Planning Manager – NZ. You will be responsible for the efficient and accurate planning of all production activities, including pre‑planning and scheduling across multiple manufacturing lines. Please note the working hours are Monday to Friday day shifts. This will be roughly between the hours of 05:30AM – 02:00PM however this is an indication only and can vary by mutual agreement. There may be the odd occasion where you will be required outside of these hours but this will be rare. 

This role is central to ensuring customer delivery expectations are met and exceeded. You will work closely with Purchasing, Customer Services, and Operations to balance demand, optimise production efficiency, and support continuous improvement. You’ll be part of a team committed to manufacturing excellence and comfortable challenging the status quo. Please note this is a complex manufacturing environment with bespoke machinery therefore your days can be unpredictable. Duties will include:
  • Reviewing demand plans, forecasts, and raw material availability to build weekly production schedules
  • Creating and maintaining a Fixed Production Plan
  • Coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely order fulfilment
  • Managing multiple production lines with varying operational requirements
  • Ensuring customer demand is met across a range of lead times
  • Improving OEE by reducing changeovers and downtime
  • Acting as a central point of contact for stakeholders and balancing customer and business needs
  • Contributing to the ITP process and identifying process improvement opportunities
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
  • Previous experience production planning and scheduling within a complex manufacturing environment is essential
  • Strong attention to detail with a results-driven approach
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Comfortable with change and committed to continuous improvement
  • Strong organisational and process-management skills
  • Sound working knowledge of manufacturing production processes
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
  • Diploma or equivalent experience
