About the Role

We are looking for an Production Manager to join our team based in Lower Hutt. You will be responsible for leading the production team in the workshop and will be involved in general site operations. You will work closely with many members of the team including the Quality Manager, Planning Team and Administration team. You must have proven knowledge and experience in implementing lean manufacturing processes  and will be a key advocate for all things Health and Safety in production. We are looking for somebody who has proven experience in structural steel fabrication and although this role is not on the tools, you will need to have the technical knowledge required. As this is a critical role within the business, we are looking for somebody to join us on a long-term basis who wants to really integrate into the team. Your duties will include:

• Leading the workshop to achieve production targets and goals
• Working alongside the leadership team on all site operations
• Implementing a wide range of lean manufacturing processes into the workshop
• Leading the team and team leaders and inspiring their motivation and attitude
• Completing reporting
• Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed and investigate any incidents
• Conducting and recording regular safety toolbox talks
• Completing one on ones with all team members
• Coaching and developing the team members
• You will be actively involved with ongoing recruitment and training

• Experience in structural steel fabrication and welding will be beneficial
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to be a decision-maker
• Minimum of 3 years in a production management or similar position is essential
• Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures
• Understanding of accounting principles and employment legislation
• Self-motivated and proactive
• To be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test
• A great attitude and willingness to learn
