Payroll Manager
Mt Albert, Auckland | Full-time | Permanent Position
About the Role
A well-established and reputable business is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring compliance with New Zealand employment and tax regulations, and supporting internal teams with payroll-related reporting and queries.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, and other statutory deductions
- Maintain payroll records, leave balances, and resolve employee payroll queries
- Liaise with external agencies including IRD, ACC, and the Ministry of Justice
- Monitor employee absences and ensure alignment with company policies
- Interpret and apply employment legislation (e.g. Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act)
- Support employment agreement management and ensure compliance
- Oversee attendance tracking systems and extract relevant data
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide payroll-related insights and reporting
- Assist with office resource management and company functions as needed
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a payroll-focused role
- Strong understanding of NZ payroll legislation and compliance
- Proficiency in Xero or similar payroll/accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- A proactive, professional, and positive approach to change
