About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join their Hawke’s Bay team. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you’ll work alongside other leading hands and supervisors to deliver complex structural and seismic installation projects. You’ll oversee teams of up to 10 workers, ensuring projects run smoothly, safely, and to a high standard.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage site teams of up to 10 workers.
- Coordinate and multi-task across multiple projects.
- Support greenfield building erection (multi-crane lifts, squaring, plumbing columns).
- Deliver seismic strengthening and complex installation solutions.
- Operate and supervise use of MEWPs, telehandlers, mini cranes, and rough-terrain cranes (up to 400t).
- Carry out rigging and dogging of cranes.
- Set out grids, mark levels, and use RLs, lasers, and theodolites.
- Ensure all works are performed safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Bring
This role is ideal for someone hands-on, technically skilled, and confident leading crews across multiple sites.
- Proven experience in multi-crane lifts, squaring buildings, plumbing columns
- Knowledge of seismic and complex installation work, including temporary works and propping
- Competent with heavy plant and access equipment, including MEWPs, Telehandlers & mini cranes, rough terrain cranes up to 400t
- Skilled in rigging and dogging cranes
- Strong surveying/set-out ability (grids, marking out, RLs, lasers, and theodolites).
