The purpose of this role is to lead the Estimating function and commercial bids, overseeing all aspects of tendering, bid management and tendering administration while ensuring quality and best practices are achieved.
As part of the senior management team, you will undertake key estimating and tendering tasks, assisting in business development, securing client and sub-contractor relationships with existing and new clients.
The role will include:
- In consultation with the General Manager, target upcoming projects and business leads with key clients.
- Review opportunities pre-tender and contribute to decision making around project selection.
- Review and comment on negotiation of contracts, assessing against tender build up and allocation of risk prior to executing.
- Assist in the management and resolution of financial issues as they arise, and work alongside the Commercial Manager to facilitate the necessary solution in line with the tendered strategy.
- Provide leadership to ensure the estimating targets are achieved by ensuring that the tender bid team are well directed and understand the financial aspects of the project.
- Participate in the preconstruction review of tenders and comment where required on value engineering strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring tenders are commercially adequate, submitted punctually and with the quality expected.
- Ensure tender negotiations are closed out and risk reduced where possible and a sufficient handover to the project delivery team is undertaken.
- Works alongside the General Manager and be a key member of the pre-construction team within ECI and Design & Build projects.
- Lead and mentor the estimating teams within the Christchurch office with a key focus that all staff are adequately skilled and provide any training suggestions and feedback on performance.
