Our client is a leading provider of heavy engineering, structural fabrication, and site installation services primarily supporting New Zealand’s power generation, transmission, and infrastructure sectors. With over 30 years of experience, they are trusted by some of the country’s most significant asset owners and operators to deliver technically demanding projects with a focus on safety, quality, and precision.

Due to continued growth and a strong forward pipeline, we are seeking a professional and motivated Key Account Manager to join their team. This role is essential to maintaining and expanding customer relationships across the power generation and infrastructure sectors. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you will work closely with both external customers and internal teams to ensure customer needs are understood, communicated, and consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow relationships with customers, acting as their primary point of contact
  • Growth and development of existing customer wallet share.
  • Understand customer goals, future work programmes, and challenges to position the company as a trusted long-term delivery partner
  • Identify and support cross-selling opportunities across the wider group, including mechanical maintenance, abrasive blasting, and protective coatings services
  • Coordinate internally with project, estimation, and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Support the tendering and quoting process, including participation in site visits and pre-contract discussions
  • Maintain accurate customer records, meeting notes, and account plans
  • Contribute to business development and marketing efforts through insights from customer engagements
  • Represent the company at industry events, customer meetings, and project kick-offs
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in alignment with company's safety, quality, and commercial standards
What does a good fit look like?
  • Proven experience in a key account management, business development, or customer relationship role, ideally within engineering, construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of customer organisations
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach with the ability to identify and act on opportunities
  • Solid understanding of project lifecycles, fabrication workflows, and site-based delivery environments
  • Experience supporting the preparation of quotes, tenders, or project proposals
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • A sound understanding of health and safety in industrial environments
