As the Commercial HVAC Installation Team Leader , you’ll take charge of day‑to‑day on‑site operations , leading a team of 3-6 installers on commercial HVAC projects. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll balance technical installation work with team supervision, job coordination, and quality control.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers to ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard - while supporting and developing your crew.
On a Daily Basis, You Will:
- Lead and coordinate a team of 3-6 HVAC installers on commercial projects
- Oversee and participate in the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, pipework, and associated mechanical works
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve site challenges efficiently
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior staff to build capability and productivity
- Liaise with Project Managers and other trades to keep projects running smoothly
- Proven experience in commercial HVAC installation
- Strong leadership experience or readiness to step into a team‑leading role
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, ducting, pipework, and mechanical services
- Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage workloads, deadlines, and on‑site priorities
- Full New Zealand Driver’s License preferred
- Trade qualification in Refrigeration/HVAC is an advantage but not essential for the right candidate
- $35–$45 per hour , depending on experience
