About the role:
I am currently recruiting for a Health, Safety & Training Coordinator to join Idemitsu Australia at their Boggabri Coal Operations. Boggabri is an open-cut coal mine producing up to 8.6 million tonnes per annum, with approved operations extending through to 2036. Located near Boggabri, Gunnedah and Narrabri, the region offers a strong community environment and a genuine country lifestyle.

Reporting to the HST Superintendent, this role supports the effective implementation and ongoing improvement of health, safety and training systems across site. You will provide operational safety support, legislative guidance and coordination of key processes to promote compliance, reduce risk and ensure safe, efficient operations.

The position plays an integral role in supporting the Health and Safety Management System, assisting with inspections, incident and risk management processes, workforce competency systems, contractor compliance and reporting. You will work closely with supervisors, operational teams, contractors and corporate HSE stakeholders to drive safe work practices and contribute to continuous improvement across site safety and training frameworks.
This is a hands-on, site-based role with regular field interaction across operational areas.

About you:

Also require:
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • ICAM investigation training (desirable)
  • Mine site supervisor qualification including G2 (desirable)
  • Return to Work Coordinator certification (desirable)
  • Experience working in mining (preferably NSW coal) or a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience supporting safety, training or operational compliance systems
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and risk management processes
  • Experience facilitating or supporting incident investigations and safety reporting (desirable)
  • Proficient computer skills and exposure to safety, incident or training management systems
You must also be able to undertake regular field-based activities, access operational mining environments, comply with PPE requirements and meet site access conditions including pre-employment medicals and drug and alcohol testing.
