We’re partnering with a globally recognised innovator in scientific traceability and product verification, seeking a Head of Laboratory Operations to lead their world-class laboratory function.
This organisation uses cutting-edge forensic science and data to help the world’s top brands meet regulatory, ESG, and product integrity goals. As Head of Lab & Production Operations, you’ll play a critical role in scaling capabilities and optimising the performance of their laboratory infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
- Lead end-to-end operations across high-volume scientific labs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Optimise KPIs including turnaround times, throughput, and quality.
- Build capacity models, oversee scheduling, and manage workforce planning to match fluctuating demand.
- Inspire and develop a high-performing team of scientists, managers, and technicians.
- Lead with visibility and integrity—driving a culture of accountability, inclusion, and excellence.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, utilising LEAN or Six Sigma principles.
- Partner with QA and regulatory teams to ensure alignment with standards such as GxP, CLIA, ISO, or equivalent.
- Oversee LIMS, automation, and lab tech implementation.
- Collaborate with IT, facilities, and vendors to support growth and minimise downtime.
- Shape long-term lab strategy aligned with broader commercial and R&D goals.
- Report on performance, risk, and continuous improvement across the business.
- 10+ years in lab operations with 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (PhD/MBA advantageous).
- Experienced in fast-paced lab environments and familiar with regulatory standards.
- Proficient in lab systems (LIMS, ELN, MES) and data-driven decision-making.
- Certified in LEAN, Six Sigma, or similar methodology (preferred).
