This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead the Procurement function for their next stage of the company’s evolution. Position Overview:
Lead the company’s procurement strategy, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods, services, and equipment required to support mining operations. This role will work closely with the team in Brisbane and oversee procurement operations in PNG, ensuring compliance, performance, and delivery standards are met across both jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a strategic procurement framework aligned with business and operational needs.
- Lead and manage a geographically dispersed procurement team across Brisbane and PNG.
- Ensure full compliance with internal procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives.
- Oversee the procurement lifecycle, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and cost control.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations, and Logistics teams to align procurement strategies with budget and production targets.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and deliver regular reporting to senior leadership.
- Mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for critical sourcing areas.
- Drive value for money, transparency, and efficiency through systems improvement and training.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and strategic sourcing initiatives, especially for heavy equipment, mining consumables, and camp services.
- Provide oversight of the ERP procurement functionality and its optimisation across the organisation.
- Minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in mining procurement, particularly in remote and challenging environments (PNG experience highly desirable).
- Extensive understanding of the procurement of mining equipment, consumables, and logistics.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP procurement systems and inventory modules.
- Experience working in cross-cultural environments and managing remote teams.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and procurement governance.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to PNG as required.
