Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. CSA Mine has recently joined Harmony Australasia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The acquisition underpins Harmony’s strategy to expand its Australasian footprint and establish a strong, diversified copper portfolio, complemented by the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, currently progressing through a $2 billion execution phase and set to become the state’s largest open‑pit copper mine upon commissioning. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
About The Role:
The General Manager – CSA Mine leads the integrated operational functions, which includes managing and the day-to-day performance of all operational and service departments including contractors and external service providers.
- Ensure safety is the number one priority on site while also fostering production of consistent, reliable profitable copper
- Develop and lead the strategic and operational performance of the mine site and its support services, including the development of plans and budgets that consider all safety and business risks.
- Lead the site’s adherence to regulatory and company safety, health and environmental standards, consistently achieving high‑quality outcomes.
- Provide strong leadership at the site and within the local community, representing the operation as the senior site leader.
- Conduct all the above under the values of the Company and be an example of living these values.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant mining related discipline.
- Proven experience operating at General Manager level for a mining operation.
- Underground hard rock experience with statutory management qualifications being highly favourable.
- Excellent business, financial and commercial acumen.
- Exceptional leadership ability who can bring a workforce together whilst meeting targets in terms of safety, productivity, and profitability.
