About the Client

Rex Minerals is progressing its flagship A$1.0B Copper-Gold Hillside Project on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. The project represents one of the largest undeveloped copper-gold assets in Australia and will play a significant role in the South Australian economy.

Located approximately 150km from Adelaide, the Hillside Project is fully approved and currently under construction, offering the opportunity to join the owner’s team during a pivotal stage of development.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Community Engagement, the Traditional Owner Engagement & Heritage Coordinator will lead Traditional Owner engagement and coordinate cultural heritage activities across the Hillside Project.

The role provides guidance and coordination for on‑site cultural heritage management, advocates for Traditional Owner wellbeing and future, and contributes to high quality and complaint heritage protection and collaborative decision‑making across all operations. 

You will act as the dedicated liaison for Traditional Owners and all heritage-related matters, ensuring compliance with statutory and agreement obligations while fostering strong, respectful and productive relationships.
  
This role requires a strong blend of strategic engagement skills, project management and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Traditional Owner engagement and act as the primary liaison for heritage matters
  • Implement the Community & Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Deliver approved cultural heritage and community programs in line with company and statutory agreements/obligations
  • Work collaboratively to assist with developing expenditure proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with consent conditions, legislation and company policies
  • Management of related risk and compliance matters
  • Provide specialist advice to internal managers and external agencies
  • Supervise heritage monitors onsite
  • Maintain strong relationships with government bodies and key stakeholder
Experience Required
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar engagement or heritage coordination role within mining or resources
  • Demonstrated experience working with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal groups and Local Aboriginal Land Councils
  • Strong understanding of cultural heritage legislation and social impact requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational capability and ability to manage competing priorities
