About the role:

We are looking for a Drill and Blast Engineer to join us at our Boggabri mine, an open-cut coal operation producing up to 8.6 million tonnes per annum, and with a mine life extending through until 2036. Boggabri mine is located near Boggabri, Gunnedah and Narrabri, regional towns which offer community spirit and a unique and diverse country lifestyle.
  
The Mining Engineer (Drill & Blast) provides technical support to the planning, scheduling and coordination of drill and blast and broader mine planning activities. The role is responsible for delivering accurate and compliant mine designs that support safe, efficient truck and shovel operations, while contributing to scheduling, reconciliation, reporting and continuous improvement outcomes aligned with Idemitsu Australia’s operational objectives.

About you:

You believe in fostering a positive, collaborative work culture - ensuring we always put our people first.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Experience in open cut mining operations with significant exposure to drill and blast design and planning (preferably coal)
  • Experience contributing to mine planning, design and scheduling activities in an operational environment
  • Working knowledge of statutory requirements, site standards and safe work practices relevant to drill and blast and mine planning activities.
  • Ability to analyse and reconcile performance against design, identify variances and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with operational teams, contractors and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with a range of drill and blast and mining planning software applications like Vulcan, Blastlogic, SPRY etc.
