Role Overview:
Reporting to the Managing Directors, you will be responsible for contacting customers with outstanding debts, negotiating payment plans, and maintaining accurate records while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills, persistence, and a customer-focused approach to debt recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact customers via phone calls to manage debt collection
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions
- Research and locate customers using tracing techniques when necessary
- Prepare and send demand letters and formal notices in accordance with the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (CCCFA) and the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA)
- Experienced in debt collection (3-5 years)
- Familiar with NZ debt collection laws and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with computer systems and collection software
- Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and empathetically
